I’m back!!!
What a trip! I’m very Jetlagged right about now! The worst part about international travel is going forward in time. We left New York on Thursday evening at around 6pm, flew for 15 hours, and arrived at 4pm Friday afternoon - bear in mind that we only woke up at about 1pm for breakfast!! Needless to say, things have been a bit tiring, so don’t expect any gems or words of wisdom in this post ![]()
Onto other things - I had a great time in the USA! I still have to prepare a long report back for the board of directors, but all in all it was very successful.
I did manage to catch the Manchurian Candidate, starring Denzel Washington - it was pretty impressive stuff - I’d give it a 4 out of 5. We also ate at a great restaurant in Manhattan, called Asia de Cuba with the fine ladies who own and run BlinkAds, Alex & Tanya (if you ever need good online contextual inventory- they’re the people to work with!). The restaurant scores a solid 8.5 out of 10!!
We also had dinner with Roy Weismann from Octopus Online at Blue Ribbon Sushi Restaurant in SOHO. Had a great time with him! Roy is one of those rock solid die-hard New Yorkers who won’t even go near Times Square!
Charlene and I were lucky enough to catch a show on Broadway - Fiddler on the Roof , starring Alfred Molina as Tevye. This is one of my dad’s favourite movies, so I pretty much grew up with it. I thought it was pretty good - but I’m a purist and I must say that I enjoy the movie more! I’d give it a 7/10. We invited Mark Brooks along with us from Cupid.com - great guy who definitely understands the online marketing space.
Last, but definitely not least, we met up with Dan Ballister from FindWhat who took us to Rosie o Grady’s on Broadway - great place to eat a good hearty meal - easily 7.5/10. Findwhat has become a behemoth in the online marketing industry and currently hold position 3, after Google and Overture. It was good to catch up and discuss what’s happening in the space. Findwhat recently launched a competive product to Adsense, one of Google’s products and I’m interested to see the uptake.
Anyways, that about sums up my Manhattan outings - if I’ve forgotten you, please let me know!
I’ll write more about the California side of my trip tomorrow and hopefully I’ll have some words of wisdom and great insight
