CJU Session : James Martelle

James Martell

I found this to be a very interesting discussion! James is definitely an SEO Guru – and has a handle on the industry.

Here is a link to his book.

Part One

My Background, Tips & Tricks

Sites: www.hosting-your-website.com
www.1st-In-Babies.com
www.1st-in.satellite.com
www.1st-in-Cellphones.com
www.how-it-works.net
www.the-history-of.net
www.rc-cars-boats-n-planes.com
www.free-satellite-tv-offers.com

He hires writers to write content. He achieves naturally good rankings, if the site is informative. James works from home with his wife.

In 1999, James was running a traditional business from home (telecommunications) which he abandoned to go into the online world.

James goes onto tell us about the success story of Colin McDougal, who started up by marketing SeaEagle.com

James recommends sticking to fewer advertisers and closer relationships – which I fully agree with.

Rules of Site Building for SEO:

1. Think “Pages” NOT Sites.
2. Use WordTracker for Keyword Lists
3. Build a Singe Page around EVERY keyword
4. Develop a few “Product Online” Pages for Each Site
5. Plan a Good Site Map
6. Publish Excellent Content
7. Set an income goal for Every site
8. Follow a Keyword Density Formula
Primary Keyword – 1x in the Headline, 1x in the First Paragraph (e.g. Digital Hearing Aids)
Tier-1 Keyword – 1x in the First Paragraph, 1xElsewhere
Tier-2 Keywords – 5x to 6x throughout

He also uses Elance.com to find freelancers to help with the web development.

With his goals – he suggests setting up a personal internet home page.

There was alot of other suggestions, more on a personal on managing your life – which I’m going to spare you.

Part Two – Content and Linking

‘Content’ is King on the Net

Hiring Authors

Hip-Replacement-Care.com

By using eLance, Net Publishing Ltd, is able to use specialist writers to write articles about the topic.

Continuous Pour

Search engines prefer “Fresh” Content to “Stale” Content.
Don’t add all pages to the site straight away, do it slowly – add pages slowly.

PAD (Professional Article Distribution)

In addition to hiring authors to write for my own sites, he also distributes professionally written articles (PAD) to third-parties.

By syndicating articles with links back to your site with 3 links in – it increases your inbound links.

Linking Points the Way

The Power of Pad
Site Map Linking
Link every Page to Another

The Future has just begun – The Convergrence of Three Trends:

Consumer Confidence in Online Shopping is rising
High Cost of Advertising
Internet Growth

Overall a great session! I was very impressed.
