I just discovered that Facebook now allows you to create and organise your friends into lists! This is fantastic as I have over 1,000 friends, and often not all of them are close enough that I want to monitor daily! This will really allow users to have better control over what they see, and from whom. I was getting a bit annoyed with not being able to create lists such as “Family” or “Business Contacts”.
This will really turn Facebook into a far more viable tool for managing social network contacts, IMHO.

Definitely a great new tool on Facebook but now with this option users should be allowed to decide what level of access each group can have…thereby separating what your friends can see vs. your colleagues.

this tool is a complete let down. what we all need is something that we can use to categorize friends and give them different permissions to view our own content, and the option not to hear about their content/activites.
for those people who now have more than a couple of hundred friends, this is what is needed. i’m sick of the news feed being cluttered with actions of people i hardly know.

I like the new functionality, but categorization is missing. I guess it is still within beta

I never liked and used Facebook. I will give it a try again, but I don’t know if it is that useful to me.

facebook is a bit of a tricky utility. whilst its great to meet ol friends it exposes some elements of your life taht you dont want anybody to see. i once had a meeting with a business partner before that i looked at her facebook profile and saw all her activities and people she knew and a few “habits”. keep your facbook privacy close to you.

@Casino-man: unfortunatelly your statement is true. But this is also true for other socal media. Your real friends will be watching and everybody else can be watching…

Facebook is a really good place to keep in touch with your friends and relatives. I prefer LinkedIn for business contacts. Even now Facebook allows us to create and organise our friends into lists, I still keep Facebook for friends only.
