Superb idea! The platforms such as Yola are very good. It has always been a great feature request for me to be able to design and build your own site and host it for free. On thing that I want to see other than this, is the possibility to add your own tools. In all, great post and count me as a new follower.

Vinny, you are a prince among men for creating Yola. I have three Yola sites – one for my freelance illustration business, one for the artisans’ guild I belong to and one for my passion/mission (a cheap vegetarian diet to mitigate climate change). Yola allows you to build a proper static website with easy navigation and a hierarchy that makes sense. I see a lot of people trying to use WordPress to build e-business sites, but they’re still blogs! As a graphic artist I can take advantage of the no-frills (plain white) styles and add my own banners and graphics (as images). You have had some income from me, because I think it’s important to have a good .com or .org domain name.

Gathering comments on my passion site is not so easy, so I link “Leave a comment” at the bottom of each page to my related WordPress blog. Not ideal, but it’s working.
